What Is Wado-ryu Karate?                                                                                                                                                                                              

Otherwise known as ‘the school of the way of harmony’, this martial art is based on natural movements. Founded in 1939, Wado Ryu Karate combines the basic movements of Jiu-Jitsu with techniques of evasion, putting strong emphasis on ‘softness’ and ‘the way of harmony’.

Levels

Novice : Suitable for men and women and children from 7+ this class covers basic blocks, punches, kicks and kata forms and is suitable for beginners and for students looking to refresh their basic skills and techniques. 

Intermediate :  Suitable for men and women and chidren 7+ this class covers basic techniques, advanced drills and sparring (which is optional) and is suitable for all levels of experience.

Blackbelt :  Advanced classes for purple belt and upwards these classes include advanced kata forms and techniques for those wanting to achieve there black belts 

Getting Started

Mandatory:

Novice - 

 Track suit bottoms, T-shirt, shorts

Intermediate -

Gi (Karate Suit), Headguard, Gloves, Gumshield

Blackbelt - 

Gi (Karate Suit), Headguard, Gloves, Gumshield, Shin Pads

When students first train, the equipment in the 'Mandatory' list is required. These are available from us  If we don't have them, we can order on your behalf, just ask one of our staff for further information.
